We are seeking a dedicated and visionary Higher Learning Specialist to join our educational team. This position is ideal for an educator who is equally passionate about structured literacy instruction and the power of creative expression to develop critical thinking in all students.
Structured Critical Thinking & Literacy Instruction
Implement structured, research-based literacy and thinking development programs grounded in science and equity.
Conduct assessments to determine students’ literacy levels, thinking patterns, and specific learning needs.
Design and deliver individualized or small-group instruction that builds decoding, comprehension, and cognitive flexibility.
Monitor and document student growth, adjusting instruction to support both skill development and deeper intellectual engagement.
Creative Language Expression for Cognitive Growth
Inspire students to express their ideas through creative writing, storytelling, and culturally meaningful language activities.
Integrate poetry, narratives, and spoken word into instruction to develop voice, confidence, and critical analysis.
Foster a classroom culture where creativity, reflection, and identity are central to the learning process.
Collaborative Teaching & Family Engagement
Partner with teachers to infuse higher-order thinking strategies into daily instruction across disciplines.
Facilitate professional development sessions on effective, culturally responsive literacy practices.
Equip parents and caregivers with tools and strategies to support their children’s literacy and thinking development at home.
Curriculum Development & Innovation
Co-develop and refine a literacy and critical thinking curriculum that aligns with national standards and cultural relevance.
Introduce innovative materials and multimodal resources that support both skill-building and creative expression.
Advocacy & Community Outreach
Serve as a champion for literacy as a tool of liberation and empowerment in underserved communities.
Support community-wide initiatives that promote reading, writing, and critical discourse beyond the school environment.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Reading, Literacy, or a related field
Demonstrated experience with structured literacy and critical thinking. approaches
Strong background in creative writing, language arts, or culturally responsive instruction
Proven ability to connect with and inspire students from diverse learning backgrounds
Commitment to continuous learning and staying informed on literacy and critical thinking research
Experience with multisensory, trauma-informed, or healing-centered teaching methods
Familiarity with digital tools that support literacy and metacognition
Experience designing interventions for students with learning differences
Knowledge of how to integrate technology into culturally relevant literacy instruction
